South Platte River Fly Fishing Report

Well here we are approaching the end of August.  This year has absolutely flown by.  This has by far been my busiest year working the water of the South Platte River.  What a great season it has been running Colorado Fly Fishing Trips, with some great fish, outstanding hatches, and so many awesome clients.  The Dream Stream is still fishing very well, with some great fish being caught.  Tricos continue to dominate the morning hours and we are having great success on both dries and nymphs.  The mid day and afternoon hours have been a little slower as water temperatures continue to be the issue after 12 pm.  That being said, fishing can still be good, you will just have to work a little harder to find those big fish.  It is never to early to start thinking about the fall.  We are all hopeful that higher water levels leading into fall will lead to some great fishing when the big browns do start to show themselves.  If you would like to learn how we target these large lake run fish without resorting to fishing to fish on spawning beds, please email me at tere5643@gmail.com.  Below are some photos from recent trips.
