Summer 2016 Fly Fishing on the South Platte

Well here we are.  It is just about the middle of July and I have been on the water every day since the middle of May.  Overall, fishing on the South Platte has been good to great.  There have certainly been slow days mixed in, but for the most part we have been having some great trips.  The water in South Park fluctuated between 70 and 50 cfs for a while and finally was jumped up to 150 or so.  While this was better than 70 or 50, I personally would like to see flows in the 200-300 range to ensure the health of our fishery.  Right now early starts and early finishes are good as the water temperatures are getting quite warm in the afternoon. Flows have also come back down from 150 and are now right around 100 cfs.  Tricos, Caddis, some PMD's, Yellow Sallies, and when the now rare afternoon showers roll in, BWOs will come off as well.  I have the 21st and 26 available in July, and am a little more open in August, September, and October.  Feel free to give me a call if you would like information about booking a guided fly fishing trip on the South Platte River here in Colorado.  Below are some pictures from recent trips.
