Alright so the subject of today is going to be water. I have not been able to post many new posts with pictures recently due to the water. We are still catching a lot of great fish on all sections of the South Platte and trips are going great. Here is the issue. Deckers- the water has been coming out of the middle tube and the water is warming up extremely quick. Once the water hits 67 or 68 degrees please be very careful handling fish. Use some heavier tippets, land your fish quick and save the photos for the fall. The situation has been similar on the N.F. We are have lights out trips catching a lot of great fish. However, with the tunnel just turning on yesterday afternoon, the water temps have been warming up in the afternoon and it has been important to use barbless hooks, heavy tippets, and quick releases. Now for the Dream Stream. Fishing has been very good, however do not try and take any stabs at what the flows will be from day to day as they have been going up and down like crazy. There are a ton of great fish in and PMD and worm patterns have been producing, as well as caddis at times. Don't be afraid to toss some streamers too as with all the water the fish are very aggressive and with fall quickly approaching the Browns will begin eating very hard in preparation. So to sum up go barbless, heavy tippets, and quick releases. A prayer directed at Denver Water for a little help couldn't hurt either. In the meanwhile below is one of my favorite photos of a place I have been dreaming about lately and cannot wait to fish this winter.
