Good Day on the North Fork

Well today I once again had the pleasure of fishing with Jim Keller.  We fished a section of private water on the North Fork today and got into a lot of fish.  While many were able to find a way of the line, we were able to bring many to the net, including some big guys.  Look for fishing to remain good on the private water as long as the flows stay good. On that note, the Dream Stream in South Park is approaching the end of the spawing run.  Many of the Browns have made their way back to Elevenmile.  The low flows have not helped out at all, 65 cfs is an incredibly low and many of the redds that were formed at 250cfs are nearly out of water, so please continue to be careful when walking and wading this stretch.  Below are a few pictures of my day today with Jim.  Thank you again for the day Jim and I look forward to seeing you next year!

Another Great Day in South Park

Today Strauber and I decided to head back out to South Park in search of big Browns.  While the crowds were once again heavy, the fishing was very good.  We nymphed up some big males today that had unbelievable color to them.  Nymphing was the way to go using small stonefly and baetis nymphs. Eggs are also turning their fair share of fish as well.  Bottom line is that the fishing is good right now but be prepared to walk a good deal in order to find either fish or water that is not currently being fished.  Today was a bit bittersweet as Brandon heads overseas in November.  Thank you for coming fishing with me Strauber and stay safe in your travels.  Here are a few pics from today.

Its Snowing!

Well yesterday started off with less than ideal conditions.  It took me nearly 3 hours to get from Denver to the Dream Stream where I met my client.  Mike was up from New Mexico and couldn't have been a better guy to fish with.  Sight fishing was a little tough in the snow but we still managed some good fish.  After the sun came out visibility was much better and we were able to find a few great fish.  The one below measured out at 28".  Thanks again to Mike for coming fishing with me and I look forward to our next trip.

Sight Fishing for Big Browns

If you ever wanted to sight fish for big browns now is the time.  Today, Brandon Straub and I went out to battle the crowds and get after some big lake run fish.  It could not have been a better day.  We picked up fish with both nymphs and streamers and some of the fish were unbelievable big and colorful.  I will let the pictures speak for themselves and keep in mind that Brandon is close to 6'5" and his fish still look big! Book a trip today to try your hand at these lake run monster Browns.

Great Fall Fishing

I had the opportunity to take Jim Keller, of Keller Custom Rods out on Saturday to one of our spectacular stretches of private water on the North Fork.  The day was great.  Lots and some really big fish were brought to the net throughout the day.  Nymphing was the way to go as the fish on almost all sections of the Platte are entering into their prespawn mode.  The pictures below are from our trip on Saturday.  However, there is good news to report in South Park.  The Middle Fork is fishing well with several good fish being landed that have moved up out of Spinney.  The South Fork is also fishing well.  With the bump in flows coming out of Spinney, the lake fish have started to show up in some more numbers.  However, so have the people.  The crowds are unbelievable right now so plan your trips accordingly.  Fishing streamers will be a great way to get after some of these aggressive lake fish, but nymphs will also produce well.  With the heavy crowds please remember to show some courtesy.  Do not fish the same run as another angler, and if you see a guide trip try and give them a wider birth.  They don't come into your office and mess with your stuff.  Otherwise have fun and goodluck!
