Fall Starting to pick up in South Park

Well as we draw deeper and deeper into the Fall season, the fishing is becoming as advertised. Many nice lake fish have begun to move into the South Platte on their annual migration. The Browns have started showing up but the numbers are no where near where they were this time last year.  Cooler temps will help encourage this big guys to move out of the lake to spawn.  However, there are a decent number of rainbows and cutthroats that have started to move up and they are a little easier to find than the colorful brownies.  As the spawn moves into full swing over the next month avoid fishing to fish that are on redds.  These fish will be in fast shallow water and occasionally you will see a flashing of the body as they actively spawn.  Don't fish to these guys as they are not focused on feeding.  Crowds have already hit the tressel run and it is kind of sad to see six or more anglers fishing to just a few fish.  Be courteous and give other anglers room.  On a non fishing note, congrationlations to Tad Howard of Colorado Trout Hunters on the new addition to his family!  Below are a couple of nice cutthroats that were caught this weekend.

North Fork Private Water Fishing Well

Today, I had the priviledge of fishing with Heathe and Rob.  This In-Law duo put a hurt on a lot of fish on one of the private sections we have on the North Fork.  Nymphing was great, but streamers were working as well.  Many fish were brought to hand and all of which were of great quality.  The weather was great as well as the cool fall day was pleasant and the storms that rolled through kept from dumping much of any precip on us.  But, as fall continues to move through, be prepared when you go on the river as weather can change quickly.  In other trout news, look for fish to start moving into the rivers of South Park.  The days are drawing closer and closer to hunt big migratory fish.

Fall is coming Around

The fishing on the South Platte system could not be better.  The private stretches are fishing great, the Deckers are is fishing well, and South Park is on the verge of the fall spawning run.  Today out in South Park turned into a phenomal day.  While the browns have yet to show up in numbers, we were able to get into some real quality Rainbows, Cuttbows, and Cutthroats.  While nymphing remaims very productive and fishing streamers will continue to produce, today was a great day on dries.  Below are a few of the great fish we got in to today.  As Fall continues and October draws near, get out there and try to get a trophy fish.  Hire one of our guides to help show you how to get into these big migratory fish.
